(2010–ongoing)
An evolving sound archive exploring urban transformation through audio-guides.
First developed for the Isola neighborhood (Milan, IT), the project takes the form of a portable kit including audio guides (188’27’’), a printed map (21 × 29 cm), and a poster-map (50 × 70 cm, Lambda print).

Bon Voyage is a site-specific project that investigates the transformation of urban space through the construction of an evolving sound archive.
The work unfolds as a series of audio guides developed from interviews conducted with residents and individuals connected to the area, combined with materials drawn from historical and private archives. These voices activate a polyphonic narrative in which individual memory and collective history intersect, generating a constellation of micro-histories that reveal intimate, affective, and often invisible dimensions of place.
Through storytelling, “mental” spaces emerge — places that persist within memory and imagination even when they have been transformed, erased, or not yet realized. Within this shift between lived experience and physical reality, narration becomes a tool for engaging with urban complexity beyond what is immediately visible.
Designed to be experienced in public space through the use of a map, the audio guides produce a friction between what is heard and what is seen. The listener moves through a stratified temporality in which past, present, and future coexist and overlap.
First realized in 2010 on the occasion of the exhibition Horror Vacui. Occupare il presente, curated by Isola Art Center, the project originates in Milan’s Isola district, a context shaped by processes of gentrification and the reconfiguration of public space. Among these transformations was the demolition of the Stecca degli Artigiani — a symbolic site and the former base of Isola Art Center — producing a significant rupture in the memory and social practices of the area.
Bon Voyage operates as an open archive that expands and reactivates over time, offering a framework through which to explore the historical, social, and affective identity of urban territories.
